Why Choose an 18×8 Garage Door for Your New Home?

Trust us, it is unrealistic to have a 16’x7′ garage door installed in newly built homes these days. Very seldom do we have just “two cars” – 9 times out of 10, there’s usually a wide pickup or SUV included in that mix. And, more often that not, we have plenty of “stuff” to fill up the additional space! Over-sized and multiple garages are becoming more popular in the housing industry making it easier for the home-owner to have more storage space and therefore eliminating the need for an “offsite storage”.

When planning your new home, or remodeling an existing garage, a lot of time and effort can be put into choosing your door. Not only is there an “aesthetic” appeal to consider but it’s a big investment, especially one that will not be “entertaining” you! Luckily, this is where we come into play. All you have to do is ask your builder to increase your garage size to accommodate an 18′ wide opening, which is an upgrade much like adding a few feet to your bedroom. Most homes today are being built with either an 18×7 garage door, or both a 16×7 and an 8×7. If your builder has not selected or contracted a company to install your garage door yet, just give us a call!

Our garage door brand of choice is C.H.I.. American made out of Illinois, these doors offer the quality you would expect with the best pricing in the region. Widths on standard designs are available up to 20 feet; however, there are a variety of designs that provide up to 24 foot widths. Visit the links here in our website or feel free to contact or visit our showroom for more information on our company or C.H.I. Overhead Doors. We offer exceptional doors – and exceptional customer service – from an exceptional, family owned company with almost 40 years of business.   By  Nick McGregor , General Manager of  Plano Overhead Garage Door Tags:  18 Foot Garage Doors Garage Door Sizes
